WPI inflation price fell to 0.13% in September

Wholesale Worth Index (WPI) inflation slowed to 0.13% in September attributable to easing costs for meals, gasoline and industrial merchandise, authorities knowledge confirmed on Tuesday (October 14, 2025).

The WPI-based inflation price was 0.52% in August and 1.91% in September final yr.

“The constructive inflation price in September 2025 is principally as a result of improve in manufacturing costs of meals, different manufacturing, non-food merchandise, different transportation tools, textile merchandise, and many others.,” the trade ministry mentioned in an announcement.

In keeping with WPI knowledge, the meals deflation price was 5.22% in September, in comparison with 3.06% in August, with vegetable costs falling.

The deflation price for greens was 24.41% in September, in comparison with 14.18% in August.

For industrial items, inflation fell to 2.33% from 2.55% in August.

In gasoline and electrical energy, inflation or deflation was unfavorable in September at 2.58%, in comparison with 3.17% within the earlier month.

The Reserve Financial institution of India (RBI), which takes retail inflation into consideration, stored its benchmark coverage price unchanged at 5.5% earlier this month.

Retail inflation fell to 1.5% in September, an eight-year low, in keeping with official knowledge launched on Monday (13 October 2025).
